Take Care of You

Recently, I decided to put as much as time and attention into me as I could. It sounds selfish but really it’s not. I am such a people pleaser and want to make sure I do everything to make everyone else happy but then forget myself in the process. Or sometimes, I compromise what I really want so that I can avoid conflict.
I don’t know if you can relate to that or not, but if you can I want to talk with you for a moment.
For the past two weeks, I decided to fill my time with things that put a smile on my face, pursuing things that further placed me in my goals and truly made me feel good. At the end of the two weeks, I noticed a change in myself. I was much more grateful, excited and happy just to be living life. I didn’t do anything huge, but just small little things. I made healthier eating choices, read books that I wanted, moved my work place to outside and many other little things. Sometimes we have to romanticize little parts of our life so that we can have a smile on our face that last longer than a few seconds.
I can be hard to put yourself first, especially when we have a million things going on. But if we don’t take the time for us, we are going to continue living a life without really living. You might be breathing, but are you living? Are you enjoying your day to day?
This isn’t an excuse to be irresponsible and completely lose control. But I want you to remember in the chaos of life, don’t forget to take care of yourself. Remember to take a step back and love yourself. Remember to take a break from the chaos and do something for you.
You don’t have to have a spa day or a vacation in order to take care of yourself, although that is an option. We need to learn to incorporate doing little things for ourselves in our daily routine.
I want to give you a few ideas that can help with this.
Ways to take care of you in the chaos:
Take a breath of fresh air. Move your workspace outside.
Work on getting more sleep, your mind rests when you do.
Do some light exercise, move your body and work out your toxins.
Go for a walk, take in Vitamin D!
Take breaks, your mind and soul need it.
Treat yourself to your favorite drink.
Keep a journal.
Express yourself creatively.
Schedule time for yourself, whatever that looks like for you.
Laugh, life goes by too quick to be stressed.
Remember that taking care of yourself is important. You deserve to take time for you.
