Don't Walk Blindfolded

I want you to take a moment and imagine you are blindfolded in a big unfamiliar room. Imagine that you are surrounded by unknown people and strange noises. Your goal is to make it from one side of the room to the other as quick as you can. What are the odds that you will make it across in one piece … very slim. You will probably bump into people, trip over furniture, go the wrong way, hit the wall and feel like giving up before you reach your destination. What if you had the choice to get across the room with assistance? Chances are you will take it. It will save you time, stress, anxiety and give you the security that you will make it in one piece.
If we are honest, this sounds a lot like life, we walk into so many situations without really knowing what is on the other side of them. But, when we decide to walk with Christ, we come alongside God as He guides us through life. He walks us through the crowded room and knows exactly where we are supposed to go, who we are supposed to meet and where we are supposed to stop along the way. If we walk with God as our guide, we can’t go wrong.
Psalm 32:8 tell us that God wants to lead us and guide us. In this verse, God is personal with His child. It is a personal promise of taking care of your steps as He counsels and watches you with His loving eye. God sees the end from the beginning and wants to take you on the best path for you. He can see how the bad circumstances are going to work for good. He can see when exactly you’ll be ready to walk into a new season and handle it well. He can see ahead of you and beside you. He has a better plan for us than the one we think we can put together. Why walk through life blindly when there is a God in Heaven who has a perfect plan for you to walk in—all you have to do is let Him lead.
I have had to learn that God’s lead is much better than mine.
This has taken me some time since I have a tendency to make plans for the way I think my life should go.
I want to encourage you today to remember this in your daily walk with Christ. We have to let Him lead us. I want you to remember to…
Pray.
When we pray to God, we give to Him our worries and fears. We hand over our burdens and let Him carry those things for us. We must give away to God what we are trying to hold onto by handing it to Him.
Be in the Word.
We can’t expect for God to lead our lives when we don’t open the very book He talks to us through. The Word will breathe life into you, bring you peace, and give you the assurance to not worry, but instead trust that God’s promises are true. He will lead you and be with you the way He was with everyone we read about.
And…
Memorize Scripture.
This one has been key for me. In times of struggle, having the Word of God in your mind and heart can give you peace that although you feel lost, God is still leading your way.
These three things will encourage you, bring you peace and guide you into letting God lead your every step. You will know for certain that your Heavenly Father is leading you every step of the way.
